i have a dark patch on my iris. is it possible to remove it?
Can i remove spot on iris?
A fairly significant percentage of the population have iris spots. The 'danger' is that the spot may not just be a bunch of pigment or a freckle but something worse. Iris melanomas are the not so nice ones and are cancers. They can be removed.
The ophthalmologist who does this would look at the little spot and photograph it. He might do an angiogram to see what type of vasculature it has. He might do ultrasound to see if he can identify by sound, the cell type.
Malignant tumors have their own characteristics.
The surgery to remove one depends on whether the spot is central..or near the pupil, or at the base. IF it's at the base, does it go back further behind the iris? Does it involve the part of the iris at the base called the ciliary body. The ciliary body has muscles in it which run circularly, and obliquely and when they contract, the lens changes focus.
If you've had this spot your whole life, and can see it in photos, and it hasn't changed, it's a spot. Just leave the thing alone. The surgery isn't bad for the little ones, but it would probably disfigure your iris. And you think it looks funny now?
Reply:Coming up next... plastic eye surgery.
Please don't be silly, it not a dangerous spot and no big deal, learn to love your self for the person you are. Spotty eyes and all.
Reply:NO. Go to an eye specialist. Do not try to remove it yourself. You could damage your iris, eye or cause blindness. See a specialist. It may be that you got something in your eye and did not notice such as a piece of rust or something else.
Please have a specialist look at this. Never try to remove something from your eye yourself.
Good Luck!

Do you think the name Iris for a girl is pretty?
A girl in my class named her girl after a Greek goddess named Iris; but l would name her after the Goo Goo Dolls song. (I'm not pregnant, nor will I be for a looong time)
Do you think the name Iris for a girl is pretty?
I really like it!
Reply:I think it's a beautiful name.
Reply:I don't really like it. It's the colored part of your eyeball. And it sounds like an old lady's name. Sorry.
Reply:kinda, its unique
I like Athena too
Reply:Iris and Lily, too.
Reply:That's a very pretty name for a girl. I don't think it'd be suitable for a boy... lol!
Anyway, it's a nice name. I like it a lot! :)
Reply:yes its a very cute name... it means flower and is Hebrew.. very cute
Reply:yes l do l think thats cute to name a girl
Reply:I like it a lot. Very beautiful and quite uncommon.
Reply:No, I don't - sounds really old-fashioned. Can't you see a kid being teased for that name? When I was young I thought the name Priscilla beautiful, now it's awful sounding to me. WHAT was I thinking?
Reply:yes, i think so.
Reply:I think it's a lovely name. I'm a big fan of the Goo Goo Dolls, but it reminds me of the flower, too.
Reply:I love it I actually have a friend with this name! Evey is another I like too that is similar
Reply:In theory, I love the name: lovely name, lovely meaning, unique, several good namesakes ... but in actuality I can't get over the "Iris of the Eye" thing. It's probably only amplified by the fact that the word "eye" is in the pronunciation.
Reply:i like iris and rosemary too.
Reply:Not really I like Violet better
Reply:Yes, it sound girlish.
Reply:I know someone who just called their daughter Iris and went to high school with one. My middle name is also Iris. I barely think about my middle names, so it's weird to say that lol. My moms middle name is Iris too. I think it's a name that's being used more and more these days.
Reply:It is a lovely name
Reply:I really like it, if i am having a girl i was thinking of putting iris in as a middle name but all the names i have chosen doesnt go with it : (
Reply:I definitely like it, but maybe more so for a middle name.
Reply:I like it, the old flower names are making a come back. My wife was once embarrassed to tell anyone her middle name( Violet) but is making a comeback.and she quite likes it now. I prefer Iris, and Violet, to some of the stupid "made up " names I keep seeing on this site. Well done. It's lovely.
Reply:Yeah, thats my favorite song right now!
Reply:it's a lovely nice. My sister's was given this beautiful name and she is a sweet one
Reply:yes it's nice and it's not use often.
Reply:Iris is a very pretty name. What is "the Goo Goo Doll song"?
Reply:I like AEnuse better.

HELP!!! Will somebody stop whoever's crankin out clones of Iris & I?
My GF Iris emailed me to say a sorry sack of schist had stolen her YA identity to post disgusting questions %26amp; mudslinging answers. THAT IS CALLED SLANDER, A SERIOUS CRIME! But not 2 min. after I found out I noticed a fraudulent "Cyrus" as well whose 1 best answer was a disgusting reply to the sexual question (can't find it anymore) asked by this predator's rendition of "Iris." But the problem is, HOW CAN YAHOO MAKE IT STOP? I think he deleted "Iris" questions cuz he got scared, but how do we know he won't keep doing it again?
Here's the pretend "Cyrus" at Level 1:

HELP!!! Will somebody stop whoever's crankin out clones of Iris %26amp; I?
The most that can be done is report them and send an abuse e-mail to one of the Yahoo! Answers team memeber: y_answrs_jane_f@yahoo.com.
I think I have talked to Iris and she sent me a message, though I don't know if it was her because I clicked on her profile link and it said it had been suspended.
Contact me please and I am willing to help you. I know what this feels, I have gone through this several times :)

Notice how the question that I believe got this thing rolling is gone (so is his answer to me). Report It
Reply:Oh, Cyrus, my baby, I am SOOO SORRY I DRUG YOU INTO THIS MESS! You see, we never had this problem until last Friday (8-25-06) because I think I offended someone somewhere somehow last week and THIS is his method of retaliation. He probably feels he isn’t intelligent enough to contact me in the proper manner to TELL me how I offended him, or perhaps he’s simply jealous of the fact that I’m proud of my profile while his is just pure nonsense or malice. He thinks it’s cute and funny to create fraudulent accounts of people for the purpose of POSTING LEWD OR SEXUAL CONTENT and HARASSING THEM VIA EMAIL through these names because obviously he has way too much time on his hands to ever get serious about life. He seems to be able to crank out emails as fast as he can exhale, so he must spend an awful lot of time completely alone. I mean, if I were around such a person I might actually find it suspicious that he’s always sending emails to people on some Yahoo forum who’d rather be left alone. And since he HAS to be male, based on the explicit sexual knowledge displayed in his fraudulent questions and answers, I might also think it unwise that he sends so many things to a young girl named Iris and refers to her so frequently. I mean, IT ISN’T AS IF WE HAVE LAWS AGAINST SUCH THINGS, now is it? Wouldn’t you all agree that IT IS PERFECTLY NORMAL FOR AN OLDER MAN TO KEEP MESSAGING A YOUNG GIRL HE’S NEVER EVEN MET? Wouldn’t her mother be THRILLED with that idea? LOL!
At any rate, I have my suspicions and would feel foolish if I did not lay them out on the table. I mean, I know there is no way to prove anything, and I apologize to any innocent accusee I may mention, but after laying awake all weekend as I retrace my steps on this forum, a part of me just cannot discount the idea that perhaps the man who messaged me at least 20 times last week, one after another like fireworks, and then suddenly stopped because he said my messages “came back blank” to made me resend them (with no more replies) may be the main culprit. I mean, there’s nothing I can ever use as evidence, but it just looks a little fishy to me that this user gave 21 answers on the last day he messaged me but hasn’t contributed ANYTHING in his name since then:
http://answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt...
I see lots of answers from 4, 5, and 6 days ago, but nothing from 0-3 (after Wednesday, or the last day I was messaged). What leads me to believe that he may be linked to those fraudulent profiles is that not only do their writing patterns match, but THIS user answered a question of mine the very next day (Thursday), which is when he began stalking me to answer everything I answered with something rude and obnoxious about me:
http://answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt...
Examples:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... (His answer to my question, so Mike Hunt-ish?)
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... (His very next answer, insulting me.)
But despite all this, I didn’t notice I’d been cloned until Friday after I resolved my question with his answer not chosen. I also noticed he was harassing the person I’d chosen as best answerer with sexually-explicit answers (can’t find the poor boy’s question because I think he may have removed it). Then I saw a bunch of answers in his profile to a copy of me at Level 1 – that’s when it all began! I said, “Oh my GOD! He is such a sore loser that he has to create CLONES of whoever doesn’t pick his answer and bash them! What can of worms did I open this time?!? Holy crap!” But you see, I can’t be 100% certain that the man I mentioned, whose answer is on this question too, is behind this Devious character. Perhaps it could be someone else I offended in a answer to his question, causing him to answer mine in a very degrading manner:
http://answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt... (His profile.)
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... (My answer to his.)
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... (His answer to mine.)
For some suspicious reason, I suddenly got 3 new answers to this stale question and was messaged repeatedly by him and a Dr. Phil impersonator whose answer was so vulgar it had to be removed! So although I have my doubts, I believe that either 1. Mike Hunt got fed-up with me giving such answers to others, or 2. Tampa Bay decided to really get me back! I mean, how can I trust any of these guys? How do I know they’re not one in the same? I can’t even rule out a 3rd possibility that it could be my old 7th grade history teacher, Ron Kolodzy, who saw this best answer of mine and decided to get me back:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
At any rate, my gut instinct, although not proven, tells me that it had to be someone who knew a lot about me, more than I have in my profile, and is so deathly afraid I cause Yahoo to crack down on joke questions like his that HE WANTS TO SCARE ME AWAY FROM THIS FORUM!!! So what should I do? I can’t give in to him because that’s letting the bad guy win. All I wanted from this forum was a way to express myself and be heard by others, a chance to make my mark upon this world. I DIDN’T ASK TO BE MOCKED AND TORMENTED RELENTLESSLY BY SOME SICKO WITH NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN PICK ON SOME GIRL HE’S NEVER MET!!! So I BEG YOU, whoever your are, to STOP RIGHT NOW because while I have no intentions of pursuing this any further, as I refuse to spend my whole life reporting questions not worth reading, I MAY HAVE NO CHOICE if it continues! I don’t want to fight with you, Mike Hunt, if that’s who you are, and I don’t want to get you banned, either. I just want the RIGHT to be Iris and to post decent questions and answers WHETHER OR NOT the rest of you want to turn it into a joke forum!!! I’d rather not get A SINGLE RESPONSE to another of my questions than to go through this mess again! PLEASE, if you can’t say something nice, SKIP MY QUESTION!!! I may have “issues” or “need therapy,” but that is NOT your decision to make, Devious or Mike or whoever! WILL YOU, YAHOO, PLEASE SUPPORT THIS RIGHT by deleting such inflammatory comments as well as “voodoo doll clones” of myself and others involved with me?
Reply:This is horrible! I think whoever is doing this should be punished severely. We should kneecap them, then drag them into the street and beat the hell out of them with rubber hoses. People who do things like this are not only annoying, but also kind of amusing. =o)

Can I retard my Iris?
I have several groups of Iris strategically placed. I want them to bloom at the same time but one group insists on blooming 7-10 days
earlier than the others. Even though some groups are progeny.
Can I retard my Iris?
hi there
i think u should try plant food for the Irises which Bloom late may be fertilizing can help and boost the blooming time and then u can have all irises at the same time.i think this can work u should try this, But don't give plant food when the plant is blooming
or go on this web site it looks good may bee it will help u
best of luck
:)
Reply:Why does it matter this way it just elongates the blooming season thus longer to enjoy their beauty. I have approx. 50 types of irises over the years I have divided and divided and given them away by the bag full. I have also moved them all around so that each variety is in several different places. my space is approx. 30ft. wide by 60ft long. Their display lasts about a month and is well worth the wait as each week a different clump shows off their colors. there is always room for one more so if you want to remove the bad one I have a place just right for them to blend in.
Reply:There really isn't anything you can do about that.

Why aren't my Iris' standing up?
I have bearded Iris' and they don't stand upright, the whole stem, from the ground, just falls over, like it's top heavy. Am I not watering it enough? Why would they just fall over?
Why aren't my Iris' standing up?
Actually it sounds like you are watering them too much. They soak up the water and that will make their stems weak. Hold off on so much water.
Reply:u should find a way to turn it on...maybe show it your flower
Reply:They may not be planted deeply enough.
Reply:Over watering cut back a little.
Reply:Was there a heavy wind recently?
Did they stand up last year?
I had trouble with my normal white irises, but learned that the BIG pots they were in, were not deep enough to produce a strong plant. Replanting to the ground, NOT a pot, made the difference one year later.
However, yours are already in the ground?
You have watered them enough if they grew enough to produce tall stems and heavy flowers.
Reply:Your blooms are just top heavy. Some plants are just that way. I have yuka plants that are so full of blooms they fall over.
If it bothers you too much you could buy some think decorative rods and tie your stalks to them with gardening string.

If it bothers you too much you could buy some think decorative rods and tie your stalks to them with gardening string.
Why Goo Goo Dolls named their song "Iris"?
I am one fan of the Goo, I love Iris, but still don't know why the band named the song "Iris". Is there really a connection between the title and the content of this song? Or John just took the name from newspaper since he had problem naming his songs?
Why Goo Goo Dolls named their song "Iris"?
John didn't know what to call the song so as he was looking at some kind of newspaper?ad thing he saw the name iris(it was the name of this singer guy person) and he liked it
Reply:I love the goo goo dolls but i truly dont have the answer to the question...I think that John just couldnt think of a name, GO JASON!! (sorry i had to put that)
Reply:I think it's more metaphoric than literal. Weather he says iris in the song or not, there's still a connection to the title.
Reply:i love that song
Reply:iris is goo goos mommy
Reply:I believe it was related to drugs addiction in some way.
Reply:Iris I knew, but I doon't.
Reply:I love that song, it's one og my favorites. It's prolly a name of a kid or wife or GF at the time.. who knows..
Reply:The instrumentals in the song are heavily driven by guitar riffs and violins, with a steady drum beat beneath. The lyrics tell the story of an unknown person's desire to be known by the object of his love. However, he seeks to avoid the notice of others because of possible repercussions. The theme of these lyrics ties in directly to the film, in which an angel falls in love with a mortal woman, and can only stay with her by giving up his angelic nature and becoming mortal.
It was the first song that the Goo Goo Dolls had been asked to write specifically for a film. Songwriter Johnny Rzeznik has been quoted as saying he broke several years of writer's block and several years of sobriety simultaneously the night he wrote this track.

I'm going to name my daughter Iris?
Okay, not pregnant, not even married, but in the future (distant future) I want to name my daughter Iris, after the Goo Goo Dolls song Iris...The name I think is absolutely beautiful; but the lyrics are what I love.."I'd give up forever to touch you; When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am." What do you think

How do you save iris seads to trasplant for next season?
My iris blooms have wilted. What part of the flower do I save as the sead
How do you save iris seads to trasplant for next season?
I do nothing with the sead pods.
Irises divide each year.
Let the tops wilt.
About august, dig the bulbs up and replant them.
Or, you can just split them with a shovel now and transplant them. They are very easy to split and grow.
Reply:In the late fall divide your plants into several with about six leaves each. Usually six to eight from an established plant.
Plant them leaving the leaves on them and next year each will grow into a full size plant.
They may not bloom the first year.
Reply:Iris' are bulbs. Leave them alone. Do not cut any of the leaves. They are feeding the bulbs for next year.
Any other questions, please consult a garden store.
Reply:my mom lets the part where the bloom was at turn brown...then she cuts the seed pod off and removes the seeds inside...then puts the seeds in small flower pots which she buries in the ground with the top of the pot about 1" out of the ground...after the seeds sprouts and the new plant gets about 1-2" you can transplant it to any spot you want..
personally i dont worry if the new iris is not the same color as the parent plant..it can be interesting to see what kind of iris grows from seeds
you can also cross pollinate iris to come up with interesting color combos
my mom just showed me how to pollinate the iris and now their blooming season is over..lol..reckon i will try it next yr
also in late summer you can cut the leaves back on iris...just leave it 6-8 inches tall....on miniature iris leave less...i ususally trim mine about an inch above where each individual leaf starts
hope this helps more than some of the other answers you received
Reply:I never do they always come back at the end of the season it is this process fo adding water and some bleach it so complicated don't worry about it they always come back
Reply:I wouldn't even save the seeds, most current varieties are hybrids and will not come back as the same variety you collected the seed from.
Reply:Don't save seeds for iris...in the Fall you can dig them up and divide them and replant them and double your plants that way. I always cut the dead flowers off as soon as they fade and then leave the foliage to keep the plants strong.

When to cut back Iris plants.?
Purple iris plants have blossomed and look like they are dying. Can I go ahead and cut the leaves in the fan tail shape I've seen in plant books?
When to cut back Iris plants.?
The plant stores up food for next year's growth in the rhizome. Cutting off too much of the leaves may hamper food production/storage which may affect flowering the next year. Trim only dead or injured leaves and cut off the flower stalks.
The iris plants mom had always had a fan shape, she just had to get rid of the occassional dead leaf and flower stalks after blooming.
Reply:I would cut back the stem with the flower on it, but leave the leaves there - the rhysomes need the sun they get over the summer to grow, multiply and be healthy. Cut the leaves in the fall before the first hard frost.

What type of cameras are used for iris recognition?
What is to be done to get iris pattern.
How much is the cost of an iris scanner.
What type of cameras are used for iris recognition?
I don't know the technical details, but I've used both monochromatic cameras and also some which use infra-red imaging. It might be worth checking out the Panasonic website for cameras and maybe Iridian Technologies for information on the algorithm used to produce the biometric template.
No idea of the price range, but from what I gather, you could get a low-end camera for around £100.
Reply:the iris sacnners are very exspensive

Pods of the louisiana iris?
is it ok to pick the pod of a louisiana iris or should i wait for them to dry up and let them fall off on their own?
Pods of the louisiana iris?
Here's an excerpt from a site (link below) - sounds like you want to pick before the pod totally dries up!
"Seed pods will develop on most wild irises. If pollinated, each pod will produce from several to about 60 cork-like seeds. This method of increase is very important to iris hybridizers in developing new forms and colors but is slow. All the seeds in a pod may not germinate the first year.
Gardeners who desire large quantities of plants for mass plantings may be interested in using seeds also, if trueness to variety is not important. Most Louisiana irises are hybrids and their seedlings will vary in color, size and form.
If iris seeds are left on the stalk to mature fully and harden, they germinate very slowly. The fully matured, late harvested, dried-out seeds will go into what is known as a "rest period" and it may take several years for all of them to spout. However, you can hasten germination of iris seed by harvesting them when the seed pod is still partially green. Planting at harvest time (June and July in Louisiana) will produce a higher percentage of seedlings by fall and early spring."

Why does my eyes' iris have 2 colors?
the iris is the color of the eye and from what i have read it is usually one color from sclera to pupil but my eyes have a ring in the middle where the inside is lighter then on the outside of the line. any ideas or am i reading wrong and this http://quest.nasa.gov/neuron/teachers/st...
is one of many charts ive looked at so tell me if you know not if you think... or better yet if you think but not if you havent a clue
Why does my eyes' iris have 2 colors?
Your unique iris is perhaps what is called "central heterochromia", an eye condition in which the central (pupillary) zone of the iris is a different color than the mid-peripheral (ciliary) zone.
The potential to acquire central heterochromia may be inherited genetically (could be from a distant ancestor), though the central heterochromia can be a signal of drug or toxic settlement in the body (I hope I'm not frightening you, but if you don't think you inherit the central heterochromia from your parent/ancestor, I'd suggest you to consult a doctor or please check this website for the types of drugs that are likely accumulated: http://cnri.edu/Iridology_FAQ/Iris_Color... making the iris color appear different from its basic predominant color. These toxic signs that show in the iris indicate the amounts of the toxins the body system has failed to eliminate.
Hope it helps, mate! I wish you always healthy.
Reply:because you are special, it's rare to have 2 colors in one eye.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterochrom...
Reply:I have the same thing, my eyes are hazel. They're green with a brown rim and some brown specks. Eyes aren't just one pure color. They always have a mixture of darker and lighter shades of one color, or another color entirely.

What to do with Iris bulbs?
We planted Iris bulbs this year and now the flowers have died. How do we store the bulbs do we cut away all the folaige thanks
What to do with Iris bulbs?
Leave the foliage on unless it's brown or damaged. Don't dig them up, the corms don't like to be disturbed. Make sure they are in a sunny spot with the corm above the soil level, they don't like their roots to be too wet so ensure the drainage is good. You should get beautiful flowers every year if you follow this advice.
Reply:If you live in a climate zone where you have cold winters you would have to dig them up and store them in place that was dark, dry and cool. Right now you don't need to do this. Don't dig them up until the autumn right before the first frost. There are some varieties that are frost hardy. I've seen some Dutch Irises growing wild in my area. They were very pretty. Every spring they always came up.
Reply:Wait for the leaves to turn yellow and die then cut then. The green leaves feed the bulbs so they are ready to flourish next year. T4
Reply:i just let them died back and that is it. i live in newfoundland, they come back every year. i have bed about 3ft by 4ft of lilies and they look great.

Please the causation of Iris moving quickly from side to side - no stillness?
The person I met in the supermarket his Iris was constantly moving from side to side although he did not speak. James Gallway had the same when he played his Flute.
Please the causation of Iris moving quickly from side to side - no stillness?
Good answer owlwings - the cause of nystagmus is unknown - 1 theory is the brain is constantly searching for the area of highest visual acuity on the retina and is constantly scanning it. People with nystagmus generally have a reduced visual acuity (even if you take the nystagmus into account). Nystagmus is also split into beat-nystagmus and pendular nystagmus. Beat nystagmus is where the speed of the movement is greater in one direction than the other so the eye looks as if it is beating in one direction. Pendular nystagmus is where the eye moves back and forth (or up and down) equally in either direction. The condition is also more highly prevalent in albinos. Finally you can get torsional nystagmus where the eye rotates along the axis of the pupil - but this is very rare!
Reply:No links. No thumb's-up point. Report It
Reply:It's a tic and is caused by some kind of pathway in the brain having a little mix-up.
Reply:Nystagmus refers to rapid involuntary movements of the eyes that may be from side to side (horizontal nystagmus), up and down (vertical nystagmus) or rotary. Depending on the cause, these movements may be in both eyes or in just one eye. The term "dancing eyes" has been used in regional dialect to describe nystagmus.
The involuntary eye movements of nystagmus are caused by abnormal function in the areas of the brain that control eye movements. The exact nature of these disorders is poorly understood. Nystagmus may be either congenital (present at birth) or may be acquired (caused by disease or injury later in life).
Etc ...
I have also seen it in blind people.
Reply:This is an irritating phenomena !
When it happens the person ,is usually aware that their eye is" twiddling "---- and will rub their eyes.
It may also be over stimulation of mental processes
.
illustrated by your example of James Galway , concentrating on his music .
often caused by extreme tiredness
Reply:thats nice
Reply:These are all good answers although not strictly speaking accurate. When the whole eye moves, the bit you notice is the iris, the coloured bit, and yes this is nystagmus. But it is possible for the iris to move on its own, this is called iridodonesis and occurs in certain rare conditions.

I have a red circle around the iris, the colored part, of my eye. It doesn't hurt, but it's getting bigger. I'm going to the eye doctor tomorrow, but does anyone know what it is?

Question about caring for iris flowers?
Neighbor dug up a bunch of his in-full-bloom purple standard iris flowers for me and told me to plant them. They are beautiful. I planted them a week ago, and so far, so good (they seem to have "took"). The existing purple flowers are gorgeous, but I don't see any new buds. Are these a type that just bloom once a year and that's it? Once the flowers are gone, do I just leave the leaves as they are in the soil or do I dig them up?
Question about caring for iris flowers?
Yes, the iris just bloom once a year. You can leave them right in the ground, and once the blooms are over trim the leaves down to about 6 inches high, in a fan shape. This helps reduce moisture loss and encourages new growth. Just make sure that the tops of the rhizome are out of the soil, this is the fleshy part under the leaves and over the roots.
I love iris, you're lucky they are still blooming well for you.
Reply:Once a year bloom; but is a perennial.
They will return year after year if planted deep enough. Reproductions are created from new bulbs off existing roots. Next year may be same number of Iris you planted; years later, you should be seeing additional stalks.
I don't trim mine until either fall or next spring; this is an individual's taste.

Lryrics to the song Iris?
Lyrics for: Iris
and I'd give up forever to touch you
cause I know that you feel me somehow
your're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
and I don't want to go home right now
and all I can taste is this moment
and all I can breathe is your life
and sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
(Chorus):
and I don't want the world to see me
cause I don't think that they'd understand
when everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
and you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
or the moment of truth in your lies
when everything feels like the movies
yeah you bleed just to know you're alive
(Chorus)
(Chorus)
And I don't want the world to see me
cause I don't think that they'd understand

A girls name:Scarlett,Iris,etc OPINIONS!!!?
Okay. To me Scarlett sounds elegant but strong. Kind of gives you an idea of elegant beauty. Also kind of whimsical. Curtis is more modern different. Kind of a funky, down to earth chick. Lauryen is less with the modern but still kind of cool. To me it's a kind of neutral name. Iris is soft, kind, thoughtful.
But names and their vibes are always going to vary depending on who you've known with that name. I'd say go with what you really feel. Or toss a coin? Hope this helps.
Reply:i just LOVE the name scarlet, curtis sounds more like a boys name, dont go much on the other two though.
Reply:Scarlett gives a sense of regalness, like the name of a noble.
Isn't Curtis a bit of a masculine sounding name?
Lauren sounds, dignified, strong.
Iris sounds meek, emotional, brave.
I hope this helps.
Reply:I prefer Edwige = The Queen of France Princess Edwige Vincent de Bourbon - Ed = Combat and Wig = Invicible

White spot on the iris of his eye???
I noticed a little white spot on the Iris of my boyfriends eye and I don't have a clue of what it might be. I generally thought maybe a corneal ulcer, but he doesn't wear contact lenses, so im not to sure. I appreciate your answers.
White spot on the iris of his eye???
Since the white spot is on the iris not directly on the cornea, then it's not a corneal ulcer. It could be as benign as an iris nevus (a freckle) or something more serious. I would recommend he gets a complete eye exam to make sure everything is healthy.
Reply:optometrist or ophthalmologist.
dont necessarily need an ophthalmologist unless you know its a surgical case, which this one does not sound like it is.
Reply:go see an opthamologist.... he will tell you because he is a specialist in this field....

Advice needed on dividing iris'?
Hiya,
I live in Philadelphia (but am not sure which zone I am in in case that's needed) and Last spring a neighbor gave me a few iris' which transplanted with no problems. I planted them in the exact clumps in which they were provided, and they have since bloomed and faded for the season. My questions are as follows:
1.)One clump has tripled in size, can I split this clump to help fill out the bed more? If so, what is the recommended method as I border on having a black thumb?
2.)If I am able to divide, when is the best time to do so (am hoping now as they are done blooming to the best of my knowledge) to minimize the chance of killing the plants?
Thanks a bunch :)
Advice needed on dividing iris'?
I've been able to divide iris any time the ground isn't frozen, but most experts recommend late summer. Cut the leaves back by half and try to get a thumb sized piece of rhizome with each division or at least a little root. When your done, your going to have pieces of rhizome with no growth points. Just throw them away, they're kind of like the extra pieces you get when you assemble a futon.
Reply:You need to wait until fall to divide the bulb. That is when plants go dormant in most zones and you will have the best luck doing it. There should be a line where it looks kind of like an absess or extra blub attached and you break in on the crease. Hope this helps I know it was a strange way to describe.
Reply:If th iris has grown that much it is in a good situation and healthy so division should be possible. It should be done, at a minimum, 8 weeks after bloom. The best time is after the temperatures have cooled in you area but not into the cold of late fall to avoid bacterial soft rot. Temps in the 60 - 70s would be good. Iris are generally divided every 3- 5 years to keep them at full bloom.
I generally cut the leaves down to 1/3 their original length. I go around each clump loosening the soil with a fork or transplant spade. Once free I prefer a Sawz-all to a knife for cutting heavy fibrous roots like Siberian iris have. In the new site I add compost and a handful of bonemeal.
Reply:I have divide mine always in the fall, they like to be divide every two yrs they seem to bloom more if you do this, to divide them take a shovel and split them anywhere, but make the clumps big, they are very hardy and will do fine

Reply:U can plant and divide iris anytime in the warm months, just keep them watered until they settle in. They are finished blooming for the season very rare they bloom again. To answer your question, Yes u can split the roots. Good Luck maybe you will have green thumb after all
Reply:Let me answer the first part of your question first. Don't cut back or divide your iris yet. The leaves are making food for next years' blooms. The best time to divide/transplant iris in our area is around the first of August. Cut back the leaves to about two or three inches. Lift the rhizomes using a lifting fork. Separate the clumps into one or two rhizomes that each have a healthy leaf cluster growing from it. Don't worry if you have to break or cut some of the clumps apart. Check for rot, insect infestations, etc. in the rhizomes. Re-plant about 8 to 10 inches apart, but don't plant them too deeply. You can feed with bone meal and water in well. They should do fine.

Ocular melanoma on the iris?
I was just diagnosed with ocular melanoma on my iris. Has anyone experienced this that can tell me what to expect?
Ocular melanoma on the iris?
For asymptomatic patients with small tumors (%26lt;10 mm in diameter and %26lt;2 mm in height), we recommend observation, rather than active intervention, until evidence of growth is documented. For patients with larger tumors and those with symptoms, we recommend active treatment with either radiation therapy (RT) or surgical removal of the eye (aka enucleation). For symptomatic patients and those with medium or large tumors, we recommend treatment with radiation therapy rather than enucleation. For patients who present with metastatic disease or who develop metastatic disease after treatment of their primary tumor, the prognosis is poor. Therapy is generally palliative and experimental.

Scarlett- a very girlish girl
Curtis- reminds me of 50 Cent... a girl who loves rap music maybe
Lauryen- complicated girl
Iris- reminds me of the eye, an observant girl perhaps?
Reply:Scarlett is a pretty name and is famous for Scarlett Ohara- gone with the wind. Audrey made a comeback so Scarlett could too.
Curtis, I think, is a boys name. Is that what you intended?
Lauryen is pretty but only if you pronounce it as Laur-e-an. 3 syllables. Laurian.
Iris is my grandmother's name and I can't help but think old woman, but my answer is biased.
I like Laurian and Scarlett. But if Lauryen is pronounced like Lauren, then I think you should drop the y.
Reply:Scarlett Curtis Lauryen Iris are good ones.
dont look out for sweet names like susi, patsy, debbie - that
are names to make the person sweet - that names will not help

What is the song Iris about?
For an English project I chose to translate the song "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls and we have to relate the song to Romeo and Juliet. Can someone please help me explaining what the song is about and how it relates?

Song facts and people's interpretations of the song (Just read the below comments and you will see how it relates to Romeo and Juliet!!!)
Source: http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=6...
1. Lead singer Johnny Rzeznik wrote this. He had a terrible case of writer's block before coming up with this. He even went to a psychiatrist for help. It's named Iris because John Rzeznik was at a bar and this woman was singing/performing and her name was Iris so he decided to call it that. And supposedly he wrote this song in under 10 minutes.
2. This is about a person with an invisible identity who no one understands. Then, he finds true love. He wants his true love to know that he exists and that she is the only person in the world who can understand and love him - hence the last line, "I just want you to know who I am." The title means this is how I see you and me and everyone.
3.This was featured in the Nicolas Cage movie City Of Angels.
4. This was nominated for Grammys in the categories Song Of The Year, Record Of The Near, and Best Pop Performance By Duo Or Group. It didn't win any of them.
5.One of the instruments used is a mandolin.
6.The Goo Goo Dolls performed this in Madison Square Garden as part of the "Concert For New York" to raise money for victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks.
7. In Greek mythology, Iris was the god messenger who left her messages in a rainbow.
8. i think this song is talked about somehow that is near death... "and i'd give up forever to touch you, cause i know that you'd feel me somehow" this relates to the unconscious or dying person in front of you" and then "you're the closest to heaven that i'll ever be, and i don't wanna go home right now" is a perfect description.. i think that the whole song is relatable to this theme... maybe it is personal experience that has led me to believe this. I think the whole refrain is relatable to a persons emotion at the time of such a loss
9. It was written from the point of view of a fallen angel. If you think about the lives of "fallen angels" it makes sense. No part of their lives is physical. They are non-linear beings. "When everything feels like the movies, you bleed just to know you're alive." To them, watching our lives here on Earth must be similiar to what we experience when watching a movie. I think this song is a plea for sympathy from those beings. The Bible talks about a time when the angels had the ability to make physical bodies for themselves and procreate with daughters of men. The angels who did this were considered rebellious angels. They gave up their good standing with God in order to satisfy their curiosity about life in the physical realm. "I'd give up forever to touch you, cause I know that you feel me somehow." The more you consider the lyrics the more distubing they become. This angel has obviously become obsessed with a physical being. He knows that its weird and wrong and admits in the line "I don't the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand." He then refers to the state the Earth is in this stream of time "When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am." To me, the being is admitting that what he feels and wants would be considered unacceptable but he still wants it... and he wants others to understand his point of view - "I just want you to know who I am". He wants others to sympathize. I think that was the point of the whole movie too. Around the same time, the movie Meet Joe Black was released. Another movie about what it must be like for a being that has never lived in the physical dimension
10. The song is about someone who had few (if any) friends, who few people knew who he was, and someone who went throught life keeping himself to himself (i don't want the world to see me) and basically being invisible. But this person was in love with someone who was the equivalant to the most popular girl in school, someone who didn't know him and who he probably doesn't have a shot with but he just wanted her to know who he was (hence the line) even tho he knew she probably never would. Maybe she might have said a couple of words to him in the past or even just smiled at him as she walked past (all i can taste is this moment) but the liklihood is, nothing would ever happen between them.
11. When you love someone or care about them, you want them to know everything. as you get close to a friend you want to tell them your deepest desires and what you want in life. you want them to know these things. you cant explain why, but you will explode if they dont know these things. "and i dont want the world to see me, cuz i dont think that they'd understand but when everything's made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am". that one person is singled out in your mind. the world is full of dissapointment and judgement. but that one person brings you happiness you've never known. you dont want to deal with the world, but you want that person to know, because only then can you feel like you've truely lived
12. I think this song is about something coming to an end and the person wants the other person to know how they feel about them before it's too late "cause sooner or later it's over"
13. This song is about loving someone and taking a chance, its about carpe diem, sieze the day and when its over, it was still beautiful. This song makes me cry almost every time I hear it. It might be the only song that does that to me.
14. I believe its just about two people simply inlove and no matter what anyone else believes he wants her to know who he is in the end
"I don't want the world to see because I don't think that they'd understand, though everything's made to be broken. I just want you to know who I am." ...I interpret this as he wants no one on the outside world to see who he truly is and how in love he is with this other person because no one in the outside world understands. I feel that in relationships we as a couple allow only our significant other to see and understand us. He is expressing that here, he is saying that in reality a place where hearts are broken and worlds crumble he doesn't want anyone to take away, or see the one thing that is surreal to him...love.
15.I think it's a very simple interpretation. Nothing more than unrequited love. Wanting somebody to know you love them and could make them really happy if they'd just give you the chance and got to know the side of you that you don't know
Reply:Well, it's quite hard to relate the song to Romeo and Juliet, because the song was written specifically for the movie City of Angels, where the actor plays and angel, who falls inlove with a human being. He had to give up an immortal existence to be with her (hence "I'd give up forever to touch you"), and to do that he had to jump off a high place and wake up wounded and bleeding just like humans ("yeah you bleed just to know you're alive"). In fact, the very title is a metaphor to the greek goddess Iris, who is the messenger of the Gods (ergo, an angel).
But anyway, to look at it in another way, this song is all about a guy's secret love. He's desperate to be with her, but no matter what he does he feels like it's a lost cause and that they'll never be together.
The first verse is just so simple it's beautiful. It just about almost sums up the feeling of love. Where when you're with that one person and nothing else matters just because it feels so perfect and you cherish every moment you spend with them because you fear that it'll be over soon.
The rest of the song is about how fragile love is and how there is almost always a feeling of despair lingering in the back of your mind as you feel that it is all too good to be true. You cannot confess your fears to anyone as you think the love you feel could not be experienced by anyone else.
It is also trying to find a way of expressing how true your love is as it feels words do not do it justice and wanting to let that special person know exactly who you are.
Beautiful song for any one who has ever been left confused by love's power and fear of the loss of that love.
So there, in a way, the song also describes Romeo and Juliet's impossible love affair. Find a way to connect the song to them, focusing on the intensity of their love and how they fought for their love against all odds.
Good luck!

Good luck!
Eyes with white on both sides of Iris?
Someone told me the term for this, but i forgot it.
What is it called when someone's "sclera" (white part of eye) shows both above and below the iris when the eye is opened?
I googled images of eyes to show you what i'm talking about:

Eyes with white on both sides of Iris?
This is a pinguecula. When it extends on to the cornea it is call a pterygium (wing). When there is a white line all the way around the cornea, that is called arcus senilis.
Reply:It just looks normal to me.
Why would there be a special name for that? No offense, it just doesn't seem like a condition worthy of distinguishing with a name.
Reply:i don't know if there is a specific term but it is usually caused by hyperthyroidism. this could be a sign.

Can I mulch my Iris bed?
I have thinned out my iris and am about to replant them. I would like to keep the weeds under control from now on. Is it OK to put mulch down as long as I keep the bulbs uncovered?
Can I mulch my Iris bed?
I don't see why it wouldn't be !! Mulch will make it look neater, too Plus it will allow the ground to retain moisture so maybe they will actually flower for you next year.
Reply:This depends on the iris type. Species irises that have roots and look like a grass type plant, mulching would not cause problems. The German type irises which have the large rhizomes (large sausage like tubers) on them can be easily rotted and are best left unmulched where the tubers are. Woodchip etc are not good mulches for perennial type plants they do much better with something like hay. Weed mat is not being used now as it only allows water to penetrate properly where the hole is and sets the surrounding ground like concrete. Plants don't just have roots where the hole is and this results with a less than optimum plant.
Reply:Mulching any type of landscape bed is a great idea. Mulch helps to retain moisture during drier months, helps to reduce weeds, helps maintain soil temperature, and (if organic in nature) is a wonderful supplement for your soil's structure.
If your bulbs are currently budding above ground then refrain from placing mulch directly on top of them. Otherwise, you can cover them about 2" and be fine.
Any time you place mulch around existing trees, bushes, flowers, and plants be cautious. Keep about a half an inch to and inch of space between the base of the plant and the mulch. This will prevent the plant from "burning" or "smothering".
Make sure any mulch you use (if organic in nature... such as hardwood) has been thoroughly composted and aged. Newly chipped wood poses a danger of robbing plants and soil of nitrogen.
Using a pre-emergent such as the previous poster's suggestion of Preen is a great step to reduce the need to weed your beds. As mentioned, they also come with fertilizer to boost your soil as well.
HAPPY GARDENING!
Reply:Sure, I would use both landscape fabric, cut holes where you put bulbs in then cover with stone, bark chips, whatever you like.
Reply:Yes. The bulb (or rhizome, depending on your type of iris) must have sun in order for the plant to bloom. I carefully mulch around my iris (some of my iris plants are over 50 years old and belonged to my great-grandmother!), leaving part of the rhizome above ground in the sun. You've made a good choice--iris are hardy and beautiful!
Reply:You can mulch over everything, even newly planted bulbs. Mulch is good because it helps keep in moisture..Just dont mulch over emerged plants.
I put down (PREEN) before I put down my mulch. I use the fertilizer/weed control all in one, It seems to work well for me.

Strange colour in my iris?
i have a little grey patch in my right eye's iris...i have brown eyes and there is a little grey patch there...i hav had it since i was younger and always wondered wat exactly it is..
Strange colour in my iris?
It's just your hereditary eye color. Lots of people with brown eyes have flecks of green or grey from their recessive genes. Most people think it looks great to have such flecks.

Hi my name is iris. can someone help me? Can I be Pregnet?
Sounds like you might be, I'd go ahead an take an early response pregnancy test, the one you can take 5 days before your missed period. If you get no result wait a few days and try again, if its negative and u think you are pregnant see the Doctor and be sure.

Reply:The breast tenderness and tiredness are the most common signs of early pregnancy. It's possible that your short period, especially if it was very light, may have actually been spotting during early pregnancy which isn't uncommon. It can indicate problems such as a miscarriage, but it is also common in healthy pregnancies. In your case, since stopped, I wouldn't worry about it. I would take a pregnancy test now. If it's positive, you'll know and if it's negative and you still feel like you may be pregnant, take another test in a week or two. God bless!
Reply:if your CERVIX is open you are not pregnant
Reply:Here's an idea................. Go pee on a stick. Seeings how you are peeing a lot more, that shouldn't be a problem.
Good Luck!
Reply:Yes, you can be pregnant...would you like me to run you through a few times just to be sure you are?
Reply:Ask your doctor about this.
Reply:Iris you should just go to your local drug store and get an ept test they are very inexpensive.
Reply:it sure does sound like u could be pregnant.
some people dont notice that many changes with their body when they are first pregnant but i know i did.
a blood test test is always best but a home pregnancy test would be able to tell you if u are pregnant or not!
i am 34 weeks pregnant with my second baby , and believe me i notice every little thing when it comes to my body!
Reply:Gosh I hope not.
Reply:You have all the signs of pregnancy. You should go to wal-greens and get the simple EPT test.
Reply:It sounds like you have some symptoms, a test can be done as early as 4 days before your period is due
Reply:Maybe, you'll probably have to wait for a pt. But your symptoms are on the money. If you only bleed for 2 days, u could have also had a miscarriage, I'd buy a test anyway, better safe than sorry, right?

Blue ring around my iris?
There is a blue/purple ring, approximately 1 mm thick and goes around my my iris.
I am a little worried about it
any ideas what it may be
granted my eyes change from green to blue and brown but this is just weird.
thanks in advance
Blue ring around my iris?
Corneal Arcus
* Clinical features:
o Very common bilateral gray, white, or yellowish circumferential deposits in
the peripheral cornea
o Lucid area usually present between the deposits and the limbus
* May be found either as an age-related condition (arcus senilis) or in association with
hyperlipoproteinemia types 2 and 3 in younger people.
* Younger-aged male patients ( %26lt;40 year old) with corneal arcus have increased
relative risk of death from coronary artery or cardiovascular disease.
* The presence of corneal arcus in patients younger than 40 year-old warrants
evaluation for systemic lipid abnormalities.

Wilson's disease has a distinct ring which is copper color but both white and copper color can appear to have a bluish tinge.
Now, after those here is a nifty sight with cornea and iris signs of diseases.

You may look through the different categories of signs of the iris photos to see if any match yours.
As you educate yourself of the various possibilities, you will come to the conclusion that it would be in your best interest to rule out what might be the cause and consult with a physician who will run the appropriate tests.
Reply:Check out the website (www.irisandyou.com/anatomy-of-the-iris.... to see the figure and Part E explains the purple ring.
Structure of the Iris
A. Surface endothelium. This is a single layer of flat endothelial cells continuous with the posterior lining of the cornea.
B. Stroma, a closely packed mesh-work of delicate radiating connective tissue fibres, enmeshing numerous nerve filaments, blood vessels, lymph vessels and large, irregularly branched connective tissue cells.
Fig. 2. Cross Section of Iris
C. In the deeper layers of the stroma a band of involuntary muscle fibres, about 1 mm. in width, encircles the pupilary margin of the iris. Reflex contraction of this sphincter diminishes the size of the pupil.
Some authorities describe also radiating muscle fibres stretching from the border of the sphincter to the circumference of the iris. In all probability, however, these are elastic and not muscle fibres, the dilation of the pupil being accounted for by the relaxation of the sphincter muscle and the resulting automatic contraction of the elastic muscle fibres. The brighter the light, the more contracted the pupil, and vice versa. This mechanism aims to regulate the amount of light to be admitted to the retina.
D. Basement membrane consisting of strong connective tissue, which forms the support and innermost layer of the iris.
E. The pigment layer consists of two rows of epithelial cells of a dark purple color, which rest on the uneven surface of the basement membrane of the iris. This pigment layer serves to prevent the penetration of light through the iris into the inner dark chamber of the eyeball.

Iris soft drinks, detergent and sugar. They made hundreds of other items that are too numerous to menton. I was wondering if they are still in production or not? I bought them at a store in Las Vegas called Thriftimart many years ago. There soft drinks were similar to Shasta.

Where is the Iris on video camera?
Is the iris in the lens, part/attached to the CCD, or after the CCD? A diagram would be useful.
Where is the Iris on video camera?
If you start from the glass end of the lens the front part is the focus, then behind that is the zoom, then comes the iris, then comes the back focus/macro then comes the CCD. Its definatelty part of the lens. Its not usually accessible on a lot of domestic video cameras, although some give you some kind of electronic control over it. Its quite easy to see on any kind of serious lens such as that on a broadcast camera.
Reply:Usually between elements in the lens. Near the rear.
Althought in home camcorders it could be behind the lens.

What time of the year do Iris bulbs grow? Spring or Summer?
I have "shogun iris" bulbs I planted last fall and so far nothing has started growing. I cant find anything about this particular new breed of iris bulbs on the intranet-- help!
What time of the year do Iris bulbs grow? Spring or Summer?
Iris grow from rhizomes not bulbs and the rhizomes need to "see" the surface (sun). If planted deep like spring bulbs (tulip, daffodil) they have a hard time growing greenery and blooming. They like to be well watered and then left till the soil dries out completely to prevent rot. If you planted them completely under the dirt it may take them quite awhile to poke green leaves through. Folks who mulch iris beds uncover them after danger of frost is over. You might try gently removing some soil to see if your rhizomes are still there and leave the tops of the rhizomes exposed.
For more information on iris cultivation follow the link below.
Reply:They come up in the spring, bloom most of the summer %26amp; die back down in the fall.
Depending on your location you should see them when days are 70ish %26amp; nights above 40ish.
Reply:A lot depends on your local weather.
June is when they are supposed to bloom.
Hopefully you did not plant too deep.
Reply:Most bulbs need to be planted in the fall. What didi you do for them over winter? Did you mulch them (5-6 good inches?. Don't give up on them this year, they still may make an appereance, but don't expect a whole lot out of them. Most perinnels don't fully mature until their 3rd growing season.
Reply:"Shogun" Iris ensata is a Japanese Iris, they typically bloom May-June. See the link for information on this Iris Genus.
Depending on where you planted it and what the climate is it may not have sprouted yet. Did you plant it in a very shady spot? On the north side of a fence or building? Most Iris rhizomes (not bulbs) should be planted right below the top of the soil with no more than an 1/2" of soil on top, did you possibly plant it too deep? Iris usually don't bloom the first year and many not until the third year. If you haven't seen any signs of growth by the middle of June it probably won't grow.

What is the iris of the eye for?
You see through the pupil so why do we have an Iris?
What is the iris of the eye for?
The iris controls the size of the pupil, which is a hole in the iris. Changing the size of the pupil changes the amount of light that enters your eye. On a bright day, your pupils will be small, and when it is dim, your pupils will be large, to let in more light.
Pupil size also signals emotion. If you are attracted to someone, when you look at him/her your irises expand to make your pupils larger. This is an involuntary action; you cannot control it consciously. But the object of your affection can pick up on this signal, consciously or subconsciously, when he/she looks into your eyes.
Reply:The iris controls the amount of light entering the eye and hitting the retina. It closes in bright light and opens in dim light.
Reply:The iris is a muscle. It contricts or dilates to allow the appropriate amount of light, depending on ambient conditions.
When you are in the dark, your iris dilates to allow in a lot of light. Hence if you are exposed to a bright light source, you feel blinded by all of the incoming radiation. It takes a few seconds to adjust. Similarly, when you are in the light for a while, you are temporarily blind if the ambient surroundings go completely dark. it takes a few seconds for the iris to get accustomed to the new situation.

Reply:for looks. sexy muscle, huh?
Reply:The iris is a sphincter that dilates and constricts the pupil.
Reply:As many here have said the iris is regulating the size of your pupil. When your eyes are dark-adapted, your pupil is very big, so that much light can pass into your eye, whereas in bright light, the iris will close the pupil thus reducing the amount of light that enters the eye. The real question, however, is, why we such an aperture in the first place? To answer this question, it is necessary to take a look at the properties of lenses.
A convex lens has a certain spherical aberration. Due to the curvature of the lens, light that enters the lens at the edge will be stronger refrected than light entering the lens at the center. As a a result, the image produced has a certain imperfection (light rays from the edge are focused into a different point than light from the center, which can be reduced by through the use of an apperture like the iris. This apperture balances the amount of light available against a sharp image. So, when much light is available, the apperture can be closed further, thereby reducing the effect of the spherical aberration, while in the dark more light is allowed to enter at the expense of the sharpness of the image. To be sure, there are other aspects, as others here have pointed out (for example, regulating the amount of UV light that enters the eye etc.). But the main reason we have these beautiful irises is so that we can get the most efficient use of light to produce as perfect an image as possible.
Hope this helps.
Reply:The iris controls the size of the pupil through which light enters the eye. In a brightly lit environment, the iris will close more and results in a smaller pupil while in a dimly lit environment, the iris will open more to allow more light to enter.

Should the eye Iris (black bit) constantly move even when subjected to a constant light source?
I was looking in the mirror whilst in the bathroom and I noticed that my Iris was subtly moving - opening and shrinking back again frequently. Is this normal?
Should the eye Iris (black bit) constantly move even when subjected to a constant light source?
yea that happens w/ evrybody. but the black part is called the pupil- the iris is the colored part.
Reply:Yes, because the eyes normally move slightly and each movement changes the light reaching the eye just a little. Even when we are staring at something, our eyes tend to wander just a little. The iris is reacting to that.
Reply:Yes....It expands in dim light and darkness and shrinks in bright light. UNLESS, you're on drugs...just kidding.
Reply:unless you're on acid which will dilate (big pupils) or opiates such as lortabs, vicodins, etc. in which case they will constrict to small pin points.

Is it normal to have two iris colors in both eyes?
Is it really normal to have two colors in both eyes? I heard of people having a color in one eye and another color in the other, but not two colors in each eye.
My iris color for my eyes are labeled as blue... and that is what I believed for a long time; however, after I got an eye exam, my optometrist said that my eyes are both blue and green. She said that my eyes appear more green than blue, but this was inside a building.
When I had a look for myself my irises did in fact have green in them... On the inside around the pupil. The outer color is blue. Do other people have this? I know that I am currently the only one in my family that has this effect in my eyes.
Is it normal to have two iris colors in both eyes?
Yes, some people have this condition called Heterochromia! It's rare but it doesn't mean you're going to die!
Reply:its actually somewhat typical. Blue eyed people should wear sunglasses. (you havent any protection from the sun at all, the blue eyes are just lack of pigment. think you have prblems? try someone with gray eyes.) Get some sunscreen and glasses and RELAX. All your family has the sme "malady" they just have the pigments to hide it.
Reply:yeah that's normal, probably more common than having just one color

i want a tattoo of something that symbolizes my marraige without actually having my husbands name tattooed on me, our song is iris by the goo goo dolls and i've searched and searched for a nice small tattoo design of an iris flower without any luck. all help is appreciated in finding the perfect design. Thank you!

Ive used bmezine.com for years and years. They have excellent tattoo pictures. Here is a link directly to the search page full of iris's.
http://www.molokosynthemesc.com/search/s...
You can also google image search "iris drawing" or "iris drawings" and many things will come up that can be taken to your artist and resized for your needs.
Reply:Here is its link.U can try it. It is really very good! Good luck!

Reply:Here you go.
Reply:If you can't find something you like, the tattoo artist can draw it for you. Find a good one and tell him what you want.
Reply:BMEink.com has an excellent section of floral tats. Then there are gardening and horticultural websites and magazines. Have you thought about actually buying an iris and then photographing it yourself? You can get some really good results. Thing to remember here is that you don't have to have the exact artwork - that's part of the tattooists job, to create a design just for you. If you can find the right image in whatever format your artist will do the rest.
Hope you find what you are looking for! (I think "Iris" is a damned fine track, too!)

990 filing on iris.gov?
I'm trying to find an organizations 990 filing on iris.gov. The only search function I have been able to find is the one for the 990-N, which is for small businesses only. Does anyone know the specific link? Thanks.
990 filing on iris.gov?
You'll not find an organization's 990 filing on the irs website. It may be in some other public domain, but not that one. I understand that a 990 is for a non-profit, but would you want someone to be able to access your information via irs.gov? I don't think so...

Can a person have a black iris?
so the black centre is the pupil, the coulored part around the pupil is the iris, and the rest is white. my question is: can a person have a black iris?, or is it impossible, it is probably just a very dark brown colour that seems like black
Can a person have a black iris?
According to this you are right they are not black, but they can be such a dark brown they look black.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color
See: Brown eye color
Also see: Aniridia a condition where there seems to be no iris present so the eyes look like they are only pupils, thus appearing black.
Reply:I think it's possible.
Some people even have a sort of purple-ish color.
Reply:Yeah. 87% Africans have black iris.
Bye!
Reply:That idiot just lied about africans having 87% black iriss I have seen only one person with a black iris she was a middle complexioned black female, everyone was surprised..buits its extremely, extremely rare even in blacks and asians
