Do you think the name Iris for a girl is pretty?

A girl in my class named her girl after a Greek goddess (of rainbow)named Iris; but l would name her after the Goo Goo Dolls song. (I'm not pregnant, nor will I be for a looong time)





There's a song by The Goo Goo Dolls called Iris, talking about how they love someone so much and that person looks like heaven

Do you think the name Iris for a girl is pretty?
I love that name! If my wife and I have a girl, we'll probably name her either Iris or Sophia.

Reply:I think it's a beautiful name because it reminds me of the Iris flower. When people think of her they will think of beauty and a sweet feminine fragrance.


Iris being a goddess can be a converstion starter. Not many people can say that they are named after a goddess.


Even better, I don't know anyone named Iris, young or old.

Reply:When I was a kid we had some flowers behind our house that were irises. I thought they were pretty. So I think Iris is an excellent name, and it reminds me of the Iris flowers.

Reply:Honestly no, but my opinion is some what tainted. I used to work in a nursing home and one of the patients names was Iris. She was mean, always yelled, threw things and I hated having to go into her room lol. So personally I don't like it because it reminds me of her:)
