Should the eye Iris (black bit) constantly move even when subjected to a constant light source?

I was looking in the mirror whilst in the bathroom and I noticed that my Iris was subtly moving - opening and shrinking back again frequently. Is this normal?

Should the eye Iris (black bit) constantly move even when subjected to a constant light source?
yea that happens w/ evrybody. but the black part is called the pupil- the iris is the colored part.
Reply:Yes, because the eyes normally move slightly and each movement changes the light reaching the eye just a little. Even when we are staring at something, our eyes tend to wander just a little. The iris is reacting to that.
Reply:Yes....It expands in dim light and darkness and shrinks in bright light. UNLESS, you're on drugs...just kidding.
Reply:unless you're on acid which will dilate (big pupils) or opiates such as lortabs, vicodins, etc. in which case they will constrict to small pin points.
