Do you think Iris is an "old lady" name?

I absolutely LOVE that name for many, many significant reasons. I'm going to name my daughter Iris Evangeline or Iris Drake, but all of my friends say Iris evangeline sounds like an old lady's name. What do you think? I'll probably name her that anyway and tell my friends to shove it:)

Reply:It does sound like an old lady name, now that you mention it, but that doesn't hide the fact that it's a beautiful name. Name your baby that, I'm sure she'll be as beautiful as that name.

Reply:I like Iris just fine. I have learned that everyone has an opinion about your baby's name..BEFORE they are born. They would never say that if you introduced your baby as Iris Evangeline after she was here! Follow your heart...it is your baby!
Reply:It doesn't sound "old lady". Your friends may not like the name now, but once they know your child they will. I didn't like the name my sister picked for her second daughter, but now that I know her I love it, because I love my neice.
Reply:Iris is elegant and lyrical, which is old-fashioned for names today. ;o) I really like Iris Evangeline, I hate Iris Drake. Tell your friends to shove it. Have you considered Lily or Camilla?

Reply:Iris isn't an old lady name at all. My new baby girl's name is Iris and it suits her perfectly. You name her what you like, it's your baby, not your friends'.

Reply:Evangeline Louise is my daughters name so I'm a little bias but I love it! I think Evangeline is a little older sounding than Iris but I don't think either one is that bad. To get around that we call her Evie most of the time.

I really am not to sure about evangeline it does not seem to fit with a newer name it seems very dated. But this is your Baby and if that is what you like then go for it, Just remember they have to live with it. Best of Luck!

Reply:My grandmother was called Iris. She died nearly 2 years ago (just when the song 'Iris' came out) and since then it has become quite popular again. Mel B has given her little girl it as a middle name and i would like to use it too if i have another girl but my husband says no. I thnk its really pretty.
Reply:I think it is beautiful...like a spring flower! I had a friend who loved the name Lucy...she was scared rto name her daughter that, and didn't...I call her Lucy anyways, that's who she was for 9 months in her momma's belly! lol...Iris is beautiful, your friends will have to get over it! :D
