My iris's have stopped blooming as much as they used to.. They have been in same area for about 8 years. should I dig them up and move them or apply some sort of fertilizer?

They have grown and multiplied, and now they are crowded. Dig them up, divide them up, give away the rhizomes you don't have room for, and replant about 6 inches apart. Don't fertilize them, they need to acclimate, rather than be prompted into growth. Put some nice organic fertilizer on them in the fall. Make sure to keep them moist (not too wet) after you replant if the weather is dry- they've lost some roots in the transplanting process.

Reply:Sounds to me like you need to dig them up and divide them.
Reply:it's good to divide these plants every three years or so! hostas, and daylilies are examples of plants that need the same treatment!
Reply:Dig them up every couple of years they tend to get too deep and then they don't bloom.
