Iris flowers?

I understand I should "deadhead" my iris after the flowers die. What exactly does that mean and how is it done. Thanks

Iris flowers?
The term dead head means to remove the dead flower. just pull the dead flower out of the stem. This encourages new blooms. A plant will continue to try and nourish anything that is still attached, including dead branches or dead flowers.
Reply:snap the wilted flowers off the stalk. you can just give them a little twist and they come right off.

Good luck!
Reply:You can pop them off right where they join the green stalk or trim with garden shears. Whatever you do, be sure to leave the green foliage! Even though it's not so pretty, it provides food for the bulb under ground, so that it can make big beautiful blooms next year. Take away the foliage too soon and you get not so many flowers next year. You can trim it back when the foliage turns yellow - at that point the bulb is getting nothing from the foliage.
