Iris tubers/bulbs?

I have had 6 iris bulbs in my garden now for their second season. The leaves are showing vigorous growth, but there are no sign of flower stems. How long will I have to wait? (North East England).

Thank you.

Iris tubers/bulbs?
There are many different varieties of Iris, depending on the weather they flower from late May through to the end of June. Some of mine are finished already, others are in full flower now and there are still some to come.

If you feel close to the centre of the leaf spread you should feel the swollen flower stem ready to emerge.
Reply:mine just put up its first flower stem the other day. it seems to happen quickly. i planted it last fall. the ones i just transplanted i figure won't bloom this year. but we'll see.

are they getting enough sun?

and are they planted shallow enough? they shouldn't go into the ground too deep.
