Iris flower?

I have several color Irises. The past 2 years they seem to be changing to purple. Is purple the dominate color? Dose the soil made a differnce in their color? What should I do to assure they bloom different colors?

The iris don't actually change colour but you usually find that certain colours are more robust in their growth habits and they over grow the others. Best the separate out the other colours before they are 'squeezed' out by the purple. I find the purple iris germanica is more dominant in my garden.
Reply:maybe you need to seperate them sometimes they need to be thinned and seperated
Reply:This can happen. I have had four o'clocks turn orange. It is my understanding that this will happen if they are cross pollinated with other hybids or other plants. Are there other iris plans around the neighborhood? If so, bees or other pollinators may be causing the color change. If you want different colors, put in a variety of rhizomes that produce different colored iris.
Reply:depending on where you purchased them from they may be a hybrid and have reverted to the orig color. Call the grower and ask them only they will know for sure.
